Persistent gender inequality in the field of technology has received much attention in recent times, whether through Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In circles, Satya Nadella’s discussion with Maria Klawe at the 2014 Grace Hopper Conference, or the GamerGate controversy that foregrounded misogyny and harassment in video-game culture. Does the field of ICTD suffer from its own gender biases that mirror the above? If yes, what are they, and how can we mitigate their impact as a community?
