Is an emancipatory ICT4D possible and how could we design it / evaluate it? Ineke Buskens developed a gender analysis framework for IDRC that classifies development research using a matrix of Conformist / Reformist / Transformist intent. Can this gender analysis be extended to social relations including race and class? Can Busken's categories be used to differentiate between ICT4D initiatives that entrench existing power and privilege and those that contribute towards liberation?
